Union Interior Minister Amit Shah will meet Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh tomorrow amid escalating protests by farmers in Delhi. The meeting will take place at 9:30 am, the sources said, before the crucial meeting with farmers’ agencies.
Tomorrow’s meeting with farmers’ organizations will be the fourth; the latter failed and the farmers rejected the Center’s proposal for a special committee to resolve differences over farm laws.
Farmers have warned that tomorrow is the “last chance” for the government to make a decision on the laws, which the Center has called “landmark reforms” in the agricultural sector.
“Tomorrow is the last chance for the government to make a decision to repeal the laws, otherwise this movement will become huge and the government will fall,” said Pratibha Shinde of Lok Sangharsh Morcha, according to the ANI news agency.
“We will burn effigies in all districts of Maharashtra tomorrow and on December 5 in Gujarat to protest,” he said.
