An auto-rickshaw driver allegedly set fire to a private company security guard in Pune after he was prevented from urinating in a company owner’s van, police said Wednesday.

The security guard, Shankar Wayphalkar (41), received burns in the incident that took place around 1 pm Tuesday in the Bhosari industrial area of Pune in Maharashtra.

The auto-rickshaw driver, Mahendra Balu Kadam (31), was later arrested and a case was brought under sections 307 of the Indian Penal Code (attempted murder) and other relevant provisions, a police officer said.

“On Tuesday afternoon, Wayphalkar was on duty at the firm’s main gate. Kadam, who was passing by, stopped his auto-rickshaw and started urinating on the firm’s owner’s truck,” he added.
