PUBG Corporation has announced that it will be launching PUBG Mobile India soon, marking the game’s return to India with a new avatar. There are reports that this could happen already on Diwali. But coming back may not be as easy as people think.

The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY), pursuant to Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, banned PUBG Mobile, PUBG Mobile Lite and 115 other Chinese applications in September in India. The reason provided indicated that the application is dedicated to activities that threaten the sovereignty and integrity, defense and security of the country.

According to a new report from Times of India, the government remains unfazed on its decision and “unless they (PUBG Corporation) address the concerns, it will be difficult to grant any relaxation [to PUBG Mobile]. “

The government is unlikely to change the decision before seeing the new version of the application and analyzing its policies. As of now, officials have not seen the new app, indianexpress.com has learned.

In its launch announcement, PUBG Corporation said that it will provide Indian gamers with “a safe and healthy gaming environment”, in which it will ensure that the privacy and security of Indian player data is its top priority. The company will also conduct “regular audits and verifications of storage systems containing personally identifiable information of Indian users to enhance security and ensure that their data is managed securely.”

Krafton Inc also announced plans to invest $ 100 million in India. Krafton is the holding company, of which PUBG Corporation is a subsidiary. South Korea’s Bluehole is the company that Krafton founded and PUBG Corporation is an internal Bluehole studio. In addition to the investment, PUBG Corporation will also establish a base in India where it would employ more than 100 people to improve communications and services.

While the version of the app banned by the Indian government was distributed by Tencent Games, PUBG Mobile India will be a separate game with elements similar to PUBG Mobile but distributed by PUBG Corporation itself. PUBG PC and PUBG console, both distributed by PUBG Corporation, are still available in India. However, both are paid versions.

If the government still claims it has arrests, PUBG Corporation will also have to make further adjustments to the new version before it can wait for its relaunch.

PUBG Corporation did not respond to a request for comment.

Optimistic players

Salman Ahmad AKA 8bit MAMBA, said a YouTube game streamer indianexpress.com“PUBG Corporation and the Indian government will first come to an agreement and rectify any issues prior to launch. This is because if the game is banned a second time, it will be the final blow and it will be extremely difficult for him to return again. “

Hemant, a former member of the SouL team with the player tag SouL Frost told him indianexpress.com that feels like “a deal has already been made between the government and PUBG Corporation.” He added: “There is a high probability that the game will return without problems with the government.”

“We believe that the game will return to 100%. It is up to Bluehole and the government of India to figure this out. The steps Bluehole has announced to address the concerns are proactive. As the largest non-manufacturing investment in India by a Korean company, it represents a positive mindset. The final decision rests between the government and Bluehole, ”said Akshat Rathee, MD and co-founder of NODWIN Gaming. indianexpress.com.

“Looking at the current announcements made by Krafton (PUBG Corp), it is encouraging to see that they have made sure to comply with the directives given by our government, including data security. His move to customize the game according to the needs of the Indians, such as the default characters, will be fully dressed, the impact effects changed to green instead of red, and most importantly, the function to limit the game time (habits healthy gaming for younger audiences). help PUBGM regain its position; Having said that, all of this is subject to our government’s approval for the game, ”said Lokesh Suji, Director of Esports Federation of India (ESFI).

PUBG Corporation has announced that the game will return to the Indian market soon as PUBG Mobile India. He has not revealed an exact return date as of now, nor has he revealed his plans to bring PUBG Mobile Lite back to the country. The new version of the game will reflect local needs, such as a virtual simulation training ground setting, clothing for new characters, and impact effects green instead of red.
