PSU workers unions will go on strike on November 26 against privatization

Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), India’s leading aircraft manufacturer, said on Tuesday that workers’ unions in the company’s Bengaluru and Koraput divisions have notified a nationwide general strike on 26 November. HAL, in a regulatory statement, added that the workers’ unions have called a strike against “government policies and legislation.”

“The unions have been told that the proposed strike call is unjustified and unjustified and that it will hardly serve any significant purpose and they have been asked to cancel the proposed strike,” HAL said in the presentation.

News reports also suggest that PSU unions across India, including HAL Employees Association, BEL Workers Unity Forum, BEL Workers Union, BEML Employees Association, Union of Employees of ITI and the BHEL Employees Association will hold a one-day strike on November 26.

After four extensions, the government last week closed the first step in the process to privatize oil trading company Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited (BPCL).
