Derby games are not the same these days, right?
All the players are friends and the rivalry is never as fierce as it was in the 80s or 90s.
Well Paris Saint-Germain and Marseille at Le Classique last night proved to everyone that they still hate each other.
Marseille ran out of winners 1-0, but that doesn’t even begin to tell the story.
There were accusations of racism and spitting before it all started in injury time.
In injury time, referee Jerome Brisard brandished FIVE red cards.

Let’s see exactly what happened:
As the timer ticked on 96 minutes, Steven Mandanda took his time on a goal kick. Neymar could be seen arguing with Álvaro, whom the Brazilian accused of racism.
When the goal kick is in the air, Darío Benedetto pushes Leandro Paredes from behind. That little push ignited an almighty fire.

Paredes slammed Benedetto to the ground before appearing to head butt Alvaro.
PSG’s Layvin Kurzawa and Marseille’s Jordan Amavi punched and kicked each other as a melee erupted.
Benedetto and Paredes received second yellow cards, while Kurzawa and Amavi received red cards in a row.
Then the VAR revealed that Neymar had punched Álvaro and was also shown a direct red card, having been booked in the first half.

Wow.
It also didn’t stop after the final whistle.
Neymar tweeted shortly after the full time Goal translated as saying: “VAR detecting my ‘attack’ is easy, now I want to see him take the image of the racist calling me“ MONO SON DE PUTA ”(monkey son of a bitch). That’s what I want see. And then?
“I make a rainbow movie, you punish me … For a slap, they kick me out … what happens to them? And then what?”
Of course, if Neymar’s accusations are true, he cannot exactly be blamed for his action of beating Alvaro.
And when asked if he regretted his actions, Neymar replied: “I’m just sorry I didn’t hit him in the act.”
There is no place for racism. Not in football or anywhere else in society.
