Mumbai: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) questioned Maharashtra Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Sunday for failing to provide security for Bollywood actress Kangana Ranaut after her tweet about the drug mafia-Bollywood nexus. The saffron party also stated that it is important to crack down on the link of drugs to the Hindi film industry.
In his letter to Uddhav Thackeray, BJP leader Ram Kadam wrote: “Over 100 hours have passed since actress Kangana Ranaut openly tweeted that she is ready to expose the link between Bollywood and the drug mafia, but she needs protection. Unfortunately, the government of Maharashtra has not provided any protection so far. “
In addition, he stated that Bollywood and politicians are seen as role models, which is why it is extremely important to launch an offensive against the drug link with Bollywood.
“My question is why the government of Maharashtra has not provided security to Kangana. Is the government afraid of his revelations that will harm the powerful? If there are political ties that must also be exposed,” the letter adds.
The BJP leader recalled that the Maharashtra government has provided security for Rhea Chakraborty, “who is one of the main defendants in the death case of Sushant Singh Rajput”, but has not yet made a similar arrangement for Kangana.
“This nexus of Bollywood and the drug mafia must be eradicated,” he said.
It should be noted that Kangana Ranaut has been fiercely supporting Sushant Singh Rajput’s family in their death case and targeting a section of people in Bollywood who he believes are responsible for Sushant’s death.
Sushant was found dead at his Bandra residence on June 14 earlier this year.
