LUCKNOW: A day after the confrontation between the BJP government of Uttar Pradesh and the Congress on the latter to provide 1,000 buses for migrants, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra claimed to those who try to help the stranded workers are being jailed and asked party workers to continue with the fight.
Uttar Pradesh Congress chief was arrested two times on Wednesday – first in Agra to sit on a dharna to protest against the government does not grant permission to allow buses arranged for migrants by the Congress of entering the state.
He was granted bail by an Agra court and released, before being arrested again by a team of Lucknow police in a second case presented here in conjunction with the Congress in its confrontation with the state government.
“Have you seen the method of Yogi (Adityanath) of the government to fight against the coronavirus of the epidemic? When the Congress organized buses for migrant workers, the Yogi government sent in Uttar Pradesh, the Congress president to jail in a false case,” Priyanka Gandhi, the party’s general secretary, said in a message.
Gandhi said: “The entire nation is standing united to fight against the epidemic, but the government is putting arrangements of buses, train tickets, the food and the ration for the workers in the jail”.
Referring to the 30th anniversary of the death of his father, former prime minister Rajiv Gandhi, she said, “Rajiv ji gave his life for the country. He loved to Hindustan and its people. I could not see his pain. We have learned from him to help the weak.”
Priyanka called about 50,000 Congress workers in the state to raise their voices to the workers through the ‘Facebook live’ on Thursday against the “oppression”, as that would be the “proper homage to Rajiv Gandhi”.
