Earlier today, Yogi Adityanath gave instructions to suspend SP, DSP, Inspector and some other officials based on the first SIT report investigating the case of torture and alleged gangrape of a 19-year-old woman in Hathras who later succumbed to her injuries in a Delhi Hospital.
According to the Chief Minister’s office, narco polygraph Testing of SP, DSP and other interested officials will also be conducted.
The UP government had formed an SIT to investigate the incident and said the matter will be heard in fast track court.
The 19-year-old woman died at Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi on September 29. All four defendants in the incident have been arrested.
An uproar has broken out over the incident and the opposition has also raised questions about how the victim’s last rites were carried out. Police have said the family’s consent was taken for the cremation.
