The 90s superhit film Coolie No. 1 has had a completely new makeover and will be released next month with Varun Dhawan and Sara Ali Khan in the lead roles. The trailer for the long-awaited film was released on Saturday and has since received more than 29 million views.
Varun also shared the trailer on his Instagram account where celebrities and fans expressed their excitement for the film.
Ranveer Singh commented, “AYE RAJJJJUUUU !!!!!!!!!! (sic)” In response to this comment, Varun said, “Thank you bade bhai (sic)”. Abhishek Bachchan commented with applause and fire emojis to which Varun replied, “Thank you sir, please give my best to OG coolie.” The first film with the title Coolie came out in 1983 starring Amitabh Bachchan.
Varun and Sara’s Coolie No. 1 is the remake of the 1995 film of the same title. Both films were directed by Varun’s father, David Dhawan. The ’90s film starred actor Govinda and Karisma Kapoor in the lead roles.
The latter seems to enhance the double role play that was played by Govinda in the 1995 version. With its full Bollywood appeal and catchy songs, Coolie No 1 has fans and celebrities raving about.
Pakistani actor Mahira Khan, who appeared in the 2017 film Raees alongside Shah Rukh Khan, also commented on Varun’s post saying “ooooof.” Priyanka Chopra also commented, “Waaaaaaah !!!” Varun responded to the global star’s comment by saying, “PeeCeeJ.”
Actor Arjun Kapoor commented, “ATM- All Time Masala!” Arjun’s uncle Anil Kapoor also commented, “Varun / David ki jodi jabardast … full of entertainment too **”.
Coolie No 1 will be a Christmas release and will be available on Amazon Prime Video.
