Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath inaugurated Uttar Pradesh’s largest oxygen production plant in Modinagar, Ghaziabad, in a virtual ceremony here on Thursday. Medical oxygen is important in treating critically ill Covid-19 patients.

“The state’s fight for oxygen will now be a thing of the past. After the installation of HFNC (High Flow Nasal Cannula), oxygen demand skyrocketed in the state’s Covid-19 hospitals. The new facility will close the gap between demand and supply and it is encouraging that such facility is ready during the difficult times of the pandemic, when it is needed most, ”the chief minister said, according to a state government press release.

The prime minister expressed his satisfaction that the company would now install another plant in the center of UP and more plants of this type would emerge to eliminate the oxygen supply problem.

Commissioned by Inox Air Products, one of the largest producers of medical and industrial gases, the plant has the capacity to produce 150 tons of liquid oxygen per day. The plant was established as part of a MoU (memorandum of understanding) signed between the UP government and the company during the UP Investor Summit 2018 in February 2018 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi had laid the foundations for the plant. in July of the same year, according to a state government press release.

The plant also has the capacity to store 1,000 metric tons of oxygen. It will supply oxygen to 200 public and private hospitals in the state.

In addition to medical purposes, the oxygen from the plant could also be used in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals and electronics.

Uttar Pradesh Minister of Industrial Development Satish Mahana, Health Minister Jai Pratap Singh and Minister of Medical Education Suresh Khanna were also present at the opening.
