Prime Minister Narendra Modi says government intervention, influence should be minimal

'Government intervention must be minimal': PM on NEP education policy

New Delhi:

The government must have minimal intervention in education policy, as “it belongs to everyone,” Prime Minister Narendra Modi said today, addressing the inaugural session of the Governors Conference on National Education Policy.

“The educational policy and the educational system are important means to fulfill the aspirations of the country. The center, the state government, the local organisms, all are attached to the responsibility of the educational system. But it is also true that the government, its interference in educational policy, its impact, must be minimal. Like foreign policy, defense policy belongs to the country, not the government, so is education policy. It belongs to everyone, “said Prime Minister Modi, urging the people to assume the “collective responsibility to implement NEP-2020 in Letter and Spirit.”

“The more teachers and parents are connected to educational policy, the more students will be connected, the more its relevance and breadth will increase,” he said, addressing the virtual conference attended by ministers of education from all states, vice chancellors of state universities. and other senior officials.

The new education policy focuses on learning rather than studying. Critical thinking is being given more emphasis than curriculum, he said.

The new education policy paves the way to open campuses of the best international institutions in India so that young people from simple families can also join them, he said.

“Whether there is a teacher or a great educator in the village, everyone is looking at the national educational policy, his educational educational policy. Everyone has the feeling that he wanted to see this improvement in the previous educational policy. This is a great reason to accept the National Education Policy, “said Prime Minister Modi.

The New Education Policy, said PM Modi, will prepare the country’s youth on both fronts with knowledge and skills according to future requirements.

Under the title ‘Role of NEP-2020 in the transformation of higher education’, the conference is being organized by the Ministry of Education.

NEP-2020 is the first 21st century education policy to be announced after 34 years of the previous National Education Policy in 1986, according to the Prime Minister’s Office.
