India is not only on track to achieve its Paris Agreement goals, but to exceed them beyond expectations, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said during the 2020 Climate Ambition Summit on Saturday, noting that the country has reduced its emissions intensity. by 21 percent from 2005 levels.
In his virtually delivered message at the summit, Prime Minister Modi said the conference marks the fifth anniversary of the Paris Agreement, the most ambitious step in the fight against climate change.
“Today, as we seek to set our sights even higher, we must not lose sight of the past either. We must not only review our ambitions, but also review our achievements against already set goals,” he said.
