Modi said he spoke to “good friend” Thai Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha and discussed issues related to the pandemic.
“As neighbors with deep-seated cultural and historical ties, India and Thailand will work together to meet the multiple challenges posed by this current crisis,” the prime minister wrote on Twitter.

A government statement said during the conversation, Modi spoke about the importance of regional and global cooperation to effectively combat the pandemic.
It secured the commitment of the Thai Prime Minister of India to support Thailand’s pharmaceutical requirements, according to the statement.
The leaders agreed on the advisability of greater collaboration between researchers, scientists and innovators from the two countries.
They appreciated the facilitation provided to their citizens present in each other’s territory and promised to continue that support.
During the conversation, Modi recalled his visit to Bangkok in November 2019 to attend ASEAN and related summits, and conveyed his greetings to members of the Thai Royal Family, as well as to the Thai people.
