Prime Minister Narendra Modi Ayodhya Temple’s comment recalls many of Nitish Kumar’s 2015 taunts

Ayodhya's comment from PM in Bihar recalls many of Nitish Kumar's taunts in 2015

Much of Prime Minister Modi’s speech focused on corruption and the “raj of the jungle” during the RJD tenure.

Darbhanga, Bihar:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, campaigning today in the Mithila region of Bihar for the ongoing elections, referred to the Ram temple in Ayodhya when he described the work of his government and the promises of his coalition to the state.

Addressing a joint rally with Nitish Kumar on his second day of campaigning in Bihar, Prime Minister Modi began by praising his critic-turned-ally, but his comments about Ayodhya were perceived by many as veiled mockery of him.

The prime minister said “Mom Sita “(Lord Ram’s consort) would look happily at her birthplace, Mithila, as well as Ayodhya.

“After centuries of penance, a great Ram Temple is finally being built in Ayodhya. Those in politics who used to ask us for a tareekh (date), they are forced to clap. This is the identity of the BJP, the NDA – what we say, we do, “said the Prime Minister.

His comments, many said, brought back memories of Nitish Kumar’s criticism of the BJP in 2015, when he was still a partner with Lalu Yadav and Congress. “The BJP and RSS folks keep saying: Ram Lalla hum aayenge, mandir wahin banayenge, par tareekh nahin batayenge (Ram Lalla we will come, we will build a temple there, but we will not give a date), the Chief Minister had commented, mocking the BJP.

But moments before Ayodhya’s comment, Prime Minister Modi generously praised Nitish Kumar. “In the last 15 years, Bihar has progressed under Nitish-hee leadership, “he said, calling him”Bhaavi Mukhyamantri“(future Chief Minister) and credits him for Bihar’s economic change.

Much of Prime Minister Modi’s speech focused on corruption and the “jungle raj” under the RJD. “On the one hand there is the NDA, which has resolved to make Bihar atma-nirbhar (self-sufficient). On the other hand, there are people who are looking at the money destined for development schemes, “he said.

Last week, at another joint rally, the prime minister’s comments on Article 370 were viewed by Nitish Kumar’s rivals Tejashwi Yadav and Chirag Paswan as an offensive against him.

“The NDA government repealed Article 370. These people say they will bring it back if they come to power. After making such statements, do you dare to ask Bihar for votes? Isn’t this an insult to Bihar? The state who sends his sons and daughters to the borders to protect the country, “the prime minister had said in the prime minister’s presence.

Nitish Kumar initially opposed the center’s decision to end Jammu and Kashmir’s special status under section 370, but did so after it became law.

As the Bihar elections began today, voting took place in 71 constituencies. The next two rounds will take place on November 3 and 7. The results will be announced on November 10.
