Prime Minister Narendra Modi will unveil a statue of Swami Vivekananda on Thursday on the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) in Delhi. The unveiling of the life-size statue will take place via video conference, according to JNU Deputy Foreign Minister M Jagadesh Kumar.
The ceremony will take place at 6:30 p.m., the university said in a statement Sunday. The inauguration of the statue will be preceded by a program on Swami Vivekananda.
“Swami Vivekananda is one of the most beloved intellectuals and spiritual leaders that India has been fortunate enough to produce. He enthused the youth with his message of freedom, development, harmony and peace in India. It inspired citizens to take pride in Indian civilization, culture and working spirit, ”the JNU deputy foreign minister said in a statement.
The prime minister also plans to inaugurate two future-ready Ayurveda institutions in Gujarat and Rajasthan on Friday.
It will open the Institute for Teaching and Research in Ayurveda (ITRA) at Jamnagar in Gujarat and the National Institute of Ayurveda (NIA) at Jaipur in Rajasthan on November 13 via video conference, the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) said on Wednesday.
Ayurveda’s potential role in managing the Covid-19 pandemic will be the focus of this year’s ‘Ayurveda Day’ observance, the PMO said in a statement.
Ayurveda Day has been celebrated every year since 2016, on Dhanwantri Jayanti day. This year it falls on November 13.
