NEW DELHI: Union Minister Prakash Javadekar said Sunday that Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’ speech, has instructed Indian citizens to fight in the battle against the coronavirus.
“Prime Minister Modi in his ‘Mann ki Baat’ has said that the battle against the coronavirus must be won within a month. He said that by the time Eid arrives we will defeat the coronavirus,” Javadekar told ANI.
He also said: “Modi also said that society has demonstrated humanity by ensuring that no one goes hungry during the shutdown.”
“In today’s speech, the Prime Minister gave the proper direction that is necessary to fight the battle against the coronavirus,” he added.
Prime Minister Modi, while addressing the nation during his monthly ‘Mann Ki Baat’, had said that India’s fight against the coronavirus is “people-driven” and that the masses and the administration are fighting together.
He also reported that the government has created a digital platform to link volunteers from social organizations, representatives of civil society and local administration.
“My dear compatriots, with the greatest humility and the deepest respect, I bow to this sentiment displayed by 130 crore compatriots. To facilitate your selfless effort towards our country, according to your inclination and time, the government has created a digital platform. It’s called covidwarriors.gov.in … I repeat: covidwarriors.gov.in, “said the Prime Minister.
“Through this platform, the government has linked volunteers from social organizations, representatives of civil society and local administration to each other. It was not long before 1.25 million people became part of this portal. They include doctors, nurses, ASHA-ANM workers, our friends from NCC and NSS, professionals from countless fields … they have all endorsed the platform, “he added.
