Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Saturday that the new buildings in the Jhansi City of Uttar Pradesh’s Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University would improve educational infrastructure, contribute to agricultural research and help farmers.
The Prime Minister virtually inaugurated the faculty and administration buildings of the Rani Lakshmi Bai Central Agricultural University. Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath were present at the event.
PM Modi interacted with various university students during the event and said that the new buildings will inspire and encourage them to improve.
“Be it drone technology, artificial intelligence technology, modern agricultural equipment, young researchers and scientists like you will have to continually work to make them more and more useful in the country’s agriculture,” said Prime Minister Modi.
He noted that six years ago there was only one central agricultural university in the country and now there are three throughout the country. Apart from this, three more national institutes are being established at the Mahatma Gandhi Institute for Integrated Agriculture in IARI-Jharkhand, IARI-Assam and Motihari, he added.
The Prime Minister said that there is also a need to bring agriculture-related education and its practical application to schools. Efforts are being made to introduce the topic of agriculture at the secondary school level to the village level, he added.
“There will be two benefits to this. One benefit will be that the natural understanding associated with agriculture will be broadened in the village children. The second benefit will be that they will be able to provide more information to their family about agriculture and related technology, commerce and business, ”she said.
The RLB Central Agricultural University, a prominent institute in the Bundelkhand region, began its first academic session in 2014-15. It offers undergraduate and graduate courses in agriculture, horticulture, and forestry.
It is currently operating from the Indian Grassland and Forage Research Institute while the main buildings were being prepared.
