MUMBAI: Expressing concern about large gatherings amid the second wave of Covid-19, Maharashtra Prime Minister Uddhav Thackeray on Tuesday asked Prime Minister Narendra Modi to instruct politicians to refrain from organizing protests.
Thackeray brought up the issue of political protests at a meeting of the Prime Minister with top ministers from various states on the coronavirus situation.
During the meeting, Thackeray said that few politicians are playing with people’s lives and organizing protests amid the second wave of Covid-19 and called on Prime Minister Modi to intervene in this matter and instruct those political parties to follow the Covid-19 protocols.
He also informed the prime minister that the state has formed a task force to ensure the timely distribution of the coronavirus vaccine and the execution of the vaccination program.
