Washington: US President Donald Trump on Wednesday thanked Americans for their tremendous support for his re-election bid. However, Trump suggested irregularities in the vote count and said he would challenge it in Supreme Court.
In a speech in the East Room of the White House, Trump said in a limited meeting: “I thank the American people for their tremendous support. A very sad group of people is trying to disenfranchise (the people who voted for me) and we will not accept it … The results tonight have been phenomenal. “
Trump also thanked his family and friends, saying: “We were getting ready for a great celebration. We were winning everything, and suddenly it was canceled. “
“This is a fraud against the American public. This is a shame for our country. It is a very sad moment for me, a very sad moment, and we are going to win this, ”he added.
Trump suggested a legal challenge to the results and said he will go to the Supreme Court.
“We will go to the Supreme Court of the United States. We want the voting to stop. We don’t want them to find ballots at 4 in the morning and add them to the list, ”said the president.
“As far as I’m concerned, we’ve already won this so I want to thank all of our fans and I want to thank everyone who worked with us.”
“We are going to protect the integrity of the vote,” said Pence, Trump’s running mate and incumbent vice president. “We are on our way to victory,” he added.
Meanwhile, Trump boasted of his victory in the key state of Florida, saying, “We didn’t (just) win it, we won it by a lot.
He also spoke about his impending victory in another changing state of Pennsylvania. Previously, Democratic rival Joe Biden had also claimed leadership in the crucial state.
