NEW DELHI: Before the 2022 Assembly Elections in Punjab, Political Strategist Prashant Kishor has joined Prime Minister Captain Amarinder Singh as your primary advisor.
“Prashant Kishor has joined me as my senior advisor. We look forward to working together for the betterment of the people of Punjab,” Amarinder announced Monday.
Earlier today, the Punjab cabinet authorized the appointment of Kishor. The political strategist will have the rank and status of a state cabinet minister.
Assembly elections in Punjab are scheduled for next year.
Kishor had run the Congressional election campaign in 2017. Punjab Assembly Elections. Congress in 2017 had burst into power by winning 77 seats in the 117-member assembly.
Kishor was the mastermind behind Punjab Congressional programs such as “Coffee with the Captain” and “Punjab Da Captain” to garner support for the party.
Last year, the Punjab CM had said that Kishor had told it that he would be “quite happy” handling the Congressional election campaign in Punjab for the 2022 assembly elections.
His claims came amid media reports that Kishor had said no to handling the party’s campaign in the state.
Prashant Kishor already works as a political advisor to Mamata banerjee as the West Bengal CM faces one of its toughest electoral battles of a BJP resurgence in the state.
Kishor had also led the BJP campaign in the 2014 general election.
