NEW DELHI: Former President Pranab Mukherjee remains in a deep coma but is hemodynamically stable, the hospital treating him said Sunday.
Doctors treating the 84-year-old Mukherjee said he is on respiratory support and is being treated for a lung infection.
Doctors say that a patient is hemodynamically stable when his blood circulation parameters, such as blood pressure, heart, and pulse, are stable and normal.
Mukherjee was admitted to the Army Research and Reference Hospital in Delhi on August 10 and underwent surgery the same day for the removal of a clot in his brain. He had also tested positive for Covid-19 during his admission.
He later developed a lung infection and had kidney dysfunction, they added.
“Shri Pranab Mukherjee is being treated for a lung infection. He remains in a deep coma and on ventilatory support. He remains hemodynamically stable,” the hospital said in a statement.
Mukherjee was the thirteenth president of India from 2012 to 2017.
