Confirming the tragic news, his son Abhijit Mukherjee wrote in his last tweet: “With a heavy heart, this is to inform you that my father Shri #PranabMukherjee has just passed away despite the best efforts of the RR Hospital doctors and prayers, duas and prarthanas of people from all over India. I thank you all. ”
