NEW DELHI: Former President Pranab MukherjeeThe children fought over the publication of their father’s memoir, The Presidential Years, on Twitter on Tuesday. His son, Abhijit, tagged publishers calling for publication of the book to be stopped. Daughter Sharmistha, however, asked him not to create any obstacles in his publication.
“I, the Son (sic) of the author of the Memory ‘The Presidential Memoirs’ ask you to stop the publication of the memoirs, as well as motivated excerpts that are already floating on certain media platforms without my written consent, ”Abhijit tweeted around 1.30pm in a three-part tweet.
Abhijit, a former congressional deputy, later asked the publisher to hand over the final copy of the book for his review before publication. “… If my father had been alive today, he too would have done the same,” he wrote, adding that the publication should be stopped “until I review its contents.” He also tweeted that he had sent a “detailed letter about it” to the editors.

The opinions expressed by him are his and no one should try to prevent him from being posted for cheap advertising. That would be the biggest detriment to our deceased father, ”he tweeted around 3:30 pm.
Sharmistha, also a national spokesperson for AICC, further joked: “By the way brother, the title of the book is ‘The Presidential Years’, not ‘The Presidential Memoirs.’
The book, published by Rupa, is scheduled for release in January. So far, the editors have published three excerpts from the book, one of which talks about the “beating” of Congress in 2014.
