Two WWE Superstars who did not compete in the WWE Survivor Series were Big E and Lars Sullivan. Neither Big E nor Lars Sullivan were booked for the matches, though Big E appeared with the rest of the New Day during their entry for their match against Street Profits, the three men clad in armor from their collaboration with Gears of War.
Possible reason Big E and Lars Sullivan weren’t booked for WWE Survivor Series
On the latest issue of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer spoke about why neither Big E nor Lars Sullivan were hired to fight in the pre-show battle royale at Survivor Series. Meltzer said the decision was probably made to protect them as neither of them were going to win the match:
You also know what’s cool is that the two betting favorites for the battle royale were Big E and Lars Sullivan, neither of whom was in it. I don’t know what’s going on with Lars Sullivan. I think maybe we have the three week rule on him. And Big E wasn’t in the actual battle because they saved him for that ring entrance with the New Day match in disguise I guess. And it might as well not be there because, for both of them, frankly, because they weren’t going to win. He had no purpose in getting them kicked out for no reason because Big E should be prepped for a championship match and Lars Sullivan is supposed to be an unstoppable monster so if he wasn’t going to win the battle royal there is probably no point in him be in it anyway. So there you have it, but they were like the betting line favorites.
Dave Meltzer then talked about why Big E or Lars Sullivan would have been a better choice to win the battle royal than The Miz:
Big E could win and get ready on his way to a championship match and Lars Sullivan could win and whatever … play his Braun Strowman character on the other brand, you know, the old Braun Strowman character, I just know the monster and all that. . At least it achieves something. I don’t know what this accomplished, other than the things with Chad Gable in the end, it was pretty good and maybe it will help him a bit.
