Possible Flight Disruption in Chennai to Statewide Vacation in TN – 10 Updates

1) Chennai metro services will run with the schedule of holiday train services on Wednesdays with service hours from 7 am to 10 pm with an interval of every 10 minutes. 4) In view of the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast and projected requirements by state authorities, 22 teams (12 teams in Tamil Nadu, 03 teams in Puducherry and 07 teams in Andhra Pradesh) have been previously placed in the probably affected areas. The teams have been kept in reserve in Guntur (Andhra Pradesh), Thrissur (Kerala) and Mundli (Odisha) to meet additional requirements.

5) Prime Minister Narendra Modi has assured the top ministers of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry of all possible support from the Center.

The Indian Navy also reported that five flood relief teams and a diving team are ready for deployment to Chennai.

“A flood relief team, each on standby at Nagapattinam Naval Detachment, Rameswaram and INS Parundu Air Station. INS Jyoti was deployed with diving equipment and HADR bricks along the coast of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry,” declared the Indian Navy.

6) RK Jenamani, IMD Lead Scientist, said that Cyclone Nivar is currently 50 km southwest of Chennai and is moving northwest.

“The prediction is that it is likely to move towards the Tamil Nadu coast and cross near Puducherry around 5 pm tomorrow. It will intensify further,” he added.

Puducherry installed the ‘storm warning cage number 7 in the port areas’ in response to the cyclonic storm, which means that the port will experience severe weather due to a storm of mild or moderate intensity that is expected to cross or close of the port.

7) Congressional Leader Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday urged people to follow security measures as Cyclone Nivar is expected to intensify.

He also urged people to stay indoors and called on congressional workers to provide assistance where needed.

8) With 11-20cm heavy rain in South Coast and Rayalaseema districts under the influence of Cyclone Nivar, Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday called on collectors to be on high alert and take all necessary precautionary measures. to avoid damage.

The Chief Minister held a videoconference with SPS collectors from Nellore, Prakasam, Guntur, Krishna, Chittoor, Kadapa, Kurnool and Anantapuramu districts and reviewed the situation in light of the cyclone.

Although the cyclone would make landfall in Tamil Nadu, heavy rains are likely in the southern coast and Rayalaseema districts from Wednesday evening, the Chief Minister said.

9) About 1,200 rescue personnel from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) have been deployed to Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh and Puducherry and another 800 are on standby in view of Cyclone Nivar, the “very severe cyclonic storm” that it is expected to make landfall on Wednesday night.

NDRF chief SN Pradhan also said they are prepared for a “high level of intensity and worst form” of the cyclonic storm as it moves from the Bay of Bengal towards the south coast.

“We are closely monitoring development and coordinating with affected states,” he said.

10) Six special trains of the Thiruvananthapuram division of the Southern Railways were canceled on November 25 in light of IMD’s forecast that cyclonic storm Nivar will make landfall on the coasts of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
