A female police officer posted on ‘Varsha’, the official residence of Maharashtra’s prime minister, tested positive for coronavirus on Tuesday, a senior official said.
In addition, a male agent at the Opposition Leader’s official residence in Assembly Devendra Fadnavis has tested positive, according to a civic official.
The Varsha bungalow in South Mumbai is currently unoccupied, as Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray lives in his family’s residence in the Bandra suburbs.
“A female police officer tested positive for COVID-19. We have hospitalized her while monitoring contacts,” said a senior IAS official.
A male police officer deployed to ‘Sagar’, Devendra Fadnavis’s official residence, also tested positive for COVID-19, said a senior Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation official.
“He showed some symptoms on April 12 and was admitted to a hospital since April 14. His test report came back positive. We removed all other police officers posted there and quarantined them,” said the BMC official.
