After mass outrage by a Uttar Pradesh police officer who mistreated Congress Secretary General Priyanka Gandhi on Saturday, the Noida police have now issued an apology and also launched an investigation into the incident. Priyanka Gandhi had to confront UP policemen who were stationed on the Delhi-Noida border on Saturday, she was seen protecting party workers as police beat them to prevent them from crossing into Uttar Pradesh. One image soon went viral, where a policeman could be seen grabbing the congressional leader’s kurta to immobilize it. The image sparked mass outrage among people across the spectrum who condemned the incident. Shiv Sena’s leader Sanjay Raut had asked if there are no female police officers in Uttar Pradesh. Later, Noida police released a statement saying they regretted the incident that happened on DND’s flight path while handling a rebellious crowd, adding that an investigation had been launched under a high-ranking officer.
