Police Register YouTuber Gaurav Wasan Accused Of Misleading ‘Baba Ka Dhaba’ Owner

Delhi police have registered a cheating case against YouTuber Gaurav Wasan based on a complaint from Kanta Prasad, the recently famous owner of the restaurant ‘Baba ka Dhaba’.

According to the Delhi Police, on October 31, a complaint was received from Prasad (owner of Baba ka Dhaba) at Malviya Nagar Police Station about cheating and fraud against Wasan. A preliminary investigation was conducted, after which a recognizable crime was recorded and an investigation was launched.

“The author claimed that he has a booth in the name of Baba Ka Dhaba in front of the Hanuman Mandir Malviya Nagar market, New Delhi, and in October 2020 Gaurav Wasan approached him and recorded a video with him to help him / promote his business.” Delhi police said.

Consequently, Wasan recorded a video and posted it on social media through his account, namely “Swad Official” and asked the public to donate money to help Prasad.

“The video went viral and according to the whistleblower, Wasan deliberately shared only his family’s bank details and phone number and those of his family for the donation and collected a large number of donations and then misled Prasad,” he said Delhi police.

Prasad said on Friday that he wants a fair and impartial investigation into the handling of donations collected to help him by the YouTuber.

Wasan, who highlighted the plight of the South Delhi restaurant owner in a video and used it to seek donations from the social media community, is being charged with embezzlement of funds requested on behalf of Prasad.
