Police killed in action, 3 terrorists shot to death in nighttime encounter at J&K

A policeman was killed in the line of duty and three terrorists were shot dead in an overnight encounter near Srinagar in Jammu and Kashmir. The shooting broke out after a joint team of J&K police and the CRPF (Central Reserve Police Force) was attacked.

A senior police officer said that terrorists attacked a checkpoint in an attempt to seize weapons from police officers in Panthachowk, outside Srinagar, last night. Security personnel retaliated and when the terrorists tried to escape, they were pursued and cornered in an adjacent neighborhood.

“During the initial shooting we lost an assistant deputy inspector from the police special operations group. In the ensuing encounter, which ended this morning, three terrorists were killed,” said Vijay Kumar IGP Kashmir.

This is the third big match in the last 36 hours in Kashmir; Ten terrorists have died since Friday night.

On Saturday, a soldier was killed in the line of duty and three terrorists were shot dead in an encounter in Pulwama, southern Kashmir. The encounter broke out after security forces launched a nightly counterterrorism operation in the Zadoora area of ​​the southern district of Kashmir.

On Friday, four terrorists were killed in a meeting with security forces in the Kiloora village of the Shopian district. Police said two of the four terrorists who died were involved in the kidnapping and murder of a member of the panchayat linked to the BJP.

“A terrorist surrendered. We arrested him and he will be treated according to the law,” an official said Friday.
