Police Identify Two Men Who Allegedly Harassed Actor At Kochi Mall

Speaking to the media, the defendants said they are willing to apologize.

Police have identified two men from Perinthalmanna, in the Malappuram district, for allegedly harassing an actress in the Lulu Mall in Ernakulam. The two have reportedly on the run and while speaking to the media, they claimed to be innocent, but said they were willing to apologize. The two defendants added that after their photos were revealed by the police, they were unable to go out in public. They said they will be handed over to the police soon.

Kochi police reportedly went to Malappuram to arrest them. Kalamassery police had released photos of two men who had harassed the actor from the mall.

Last Thursday, the actress posted on her Instagram that she was harassed by two men while shopping. She said they had groped her, but when they clashed, they rejected the accusation and left. After reviewing the CCTV footage, a police officer confirmed that she had been touched inappropriately.

Meanwhile, the defendants have denied the allegations. Speaking to the media, the two men said that they had gone to Thrissur to repair their car and later went to Ernakulam to work.

“We saw the woman in the mall but we didn’t know she was an actress. Later we saw a family taking a selfie with her. We asked her sister how many movies the woman had acted in, but she seemed very arrogant, so we walked away . ”Said one of the defendants, justifying his behavior.

They also added that they could have unknowingly touched her and had no intention of harassing her. They said they are willing to apologize to the actor.

Meanwhile, the actor’s father reacted to the defendants’ statements and said they had intentionally harassed her. “If they did not do it intentionally, they would have apologized at that time. They did not; they also harassed her. Later it was found that they did not give her original name or her phone number in the registry of the shopping center or at the train station”, he told Reporter TV.
