Police Block Jaipur Highway to Stop Maharashtra Farmers | Delhi News

REWARI / SHAHJAHANPUR: Haryana Police blocked both driveways from the Delhi-Jaipur Highway (NH48) on Friday to stop the march of about a thousand farmers since Maharashtra advancing with their loaded tractor wagons toward the protest site in Jaisinghpur Khera, the Haryana-Rajasthan border. The resulting grunts occurred on the first day of the Bharatiya Kisan Union call (BKU) for three ‘free’ days, in which they stopped collecting at toll plazas across the state.
Farmers from Maharashtra, from districts like Nashik, Ahmednagar and Akola, were marching towards Rewari to join their counterparts in Punjab, Rajasthan and Haryana in the ongoing turmoil and moving towards Delhi when the police blocked the road. In addition to the farmers, other detainees in Shahjahanpur included All India Kisan Sabha Vice President Amra Ram, his Deputy Secretary Vijoo Krishnan, Maharashtra farmer leader Pratibha Sinde, and CPM leader Krishna Prasad.
The blockade caused 10 km setbacks from Jaisinghpur Khera to the Bawal industrial zone. Large traffic jams were observed en route from Shahjahanpur toll plaza to Kotputli in neighboring Rajasthan. The grunts saw at least 1,500 heavy vehicles stuck.
