PM to mark Kisan’s 100th railway on Monday | India News

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will point out the Kisan Lane 100 on Monday from Sangola in Maharashtra to Shalimar in west bengal. So far, 27,000 tons of agricultural products have been transported by these trains since August 7 and according to railways farmers get almost 30% more price for their products thanks to this initiative.
According to a Official statement from PMO, Sangola’s multi-commodity train service will transport vegetables like cauliflower, bell pepper, cabbage, drumsticks, chili peppers and onions. It will also carry fruits such as grapes, oranges, pomegranates, bananas and custard apples. The loading and unloading of perishable products will be allowed stoppages en route no restriction on shipment size.
This Kisan Rail carrying more than 400 tons of fruits and vegetables will travel 2,132 km for approximately 39 hours and will pass through Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Odisha.
The central government has provided a 50% subsidy for the transport of fruits and vegetables, which is directly credited to the railways.
Currently, Kisan Rails operates on nine routes and its goal is to provide a broader market to farmers by connecting production centers with markets and consumption centers. Since these are services with established schedules, shipments arrive on time, said an official with the Ministry of Railways. “There are stoppages at all main stations en route, and loading and unloading is allowed in all stations. There is a minimum size standard for shipments. So it benefits everyone, “said the official.
