Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit the Zydus Cadila plant near Ahmedabad, the Bharat Biotech facility in Hyderabad and the Serum Institute of India (SII) in Pune on Saturday to review the Covid-19 vaccine development work there.
The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) tweeted on Friday about Prime Minister Modi’s visit today to 3 vaccine plants. “Tomorrow, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a three-city visit to personally review the vaccine development and manufacturing process. He will visit the Zydus Biotech Park in Ahmedabad, Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad, and the Serum Institute of India in Pune.” wrote the PMO on Twitter.
“As India enters a decisive phase in the fight against Covid-19, Prime Minister @narendramodis’s visit to these facilities and discussions with scientists will help him get a first-hand perspective of the preparations, challenges and the roadmap of India’s effort to vaccinate its citizens, “added the PMO.

- Drug maker Zydus Cadila has announced that the first phase of the clinical trial of its coronavirus vaccine candidate, ZyCoV-D, was completed and the second phase of clinical trials began in August.
- PM Modi will fly to Pune from Ahmedabad, where the SII is based. The Serum Institute has partnered with the global pharmaceutical giant AstraZeneca and the University of Oxford for a Covid-19 vaccine.
