Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address the nation today at 8 p.m., amid speculation about the 4.0 blockade. Prime Minister Modi’s speech comes a day after his meeting with chief ministers on the closure strategy. During his nationwide speech, Prime Minister Modi is likely to talk about the Covid-19-induced blockade. As for Twitter, the prime minister’s office said: “Prime Minister Modi will address the nation at 8pm tonight.”
The last time the Prime Minister addressed the nation was on April 14 when he announced the extension of the national blockade until May 3.
On Monday, Prime Minister Modi held a video conference meeting with top ministers from all states to discuss the way forward in India’s fight against the new coronavirus. He said the need was to reduce the transmission rate of Covid-19 and gradually increase public activity while meeting all the guidelines. “I am of the firm opinion that the necessary measures in the first phase of the blockade were not necessary during the second phase and, similarly, the necessary measures in the third phase are not necessary in the fourth,” said the Prime Minister.
PM Modi has asked states to submit suggestions for changes to the current rules by May 15.
India is in the third blocking phase that will end on May 17.
