New Delhi:

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on his 71st radio show Mann ki Baat spoke today about how our lives have taken a drastic turn due to the coronavirus pandemic, but brought us closer to nature. He said the pandemic has given us the opportunity to experience nature in a “new way.”

PM Modi spoke first about cherry blossoms. As we head into winter, the prime minister said, photos of beautiful cherry blossoms abound on the Internet, clearly found in Japan. However, the photos that have caught the attention of many are not from Japan, the prime minister adds.

“These are Shillong images of our Meghalaya. These cherry blossoms have further enhanced the beauty of Meghalaya,” said PM Modi.

PM Modi said that our perspective on observing nature has also undergone a change.

November 12 marked the 125th anniversary of the birth of renowned ornithologist Dr. Salim Ali, also known as the “Birdman of India”. Prime Minister Modi, who praised Dr. Ali for his illustrious life and career, said his work attracted large numbers of bird watchers to India.

“I have always been a fervent admirer of people who are fond of bird watching. With the utmost patience, for hours together from morning to dusk, they can go bird watching, enjoying the scenic beauty of nature; passing on the acquired knowledge to us, “said Prime Minister Modi.

He advised everyone to connect with birding as well, adding that he recently spent time with birds in Gujarat’s Kevadia as well.

The Prime Minister had visited the Geodesic Aviary Dome in Kevadia in late October and shared several photos from the visit.

He added that time spent among birds will bring people closer to nature.

“It will also inspire you towards the environment,” added PM Modi.
