PM Modi Unveils Statue of Swami Vivekanda at JNU Campus | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra modi Thursday unveiled the statue of Swami Vivekanda via videoconferencing on the campus of Jawaharlal Nehru University in Delhi.
“I wish that the statue of Swami Vivekananda in JNU inspires and energizes everyone. I hope this statue instills the courage and compassion that Swami ji wanted to see in everyone,” he said. PM Modi.
“I hope that his statue will teach everyone the devotion and intense love towards the nation, which is the supreme message of Swamiji’s life. May it inspire the country to a vision of unity,” he added.
Referring to his government’s pro-poor measures, Prime Minister Modi said the Center has prepared a “shield of protection” before carrying out the reforms. The Prime Minister further said that the only thing that has damaged our democratic system is prioritizing ideology over the national interest.
“Our ideology must be seen supporting and not against the nation in matters of national interest,” said the prime minister.
Jawaharlal Nehru University has long been considered a citadel of the left, and the student unions affiliated with it make the decisions on campus.
BJP and Hindutva groups, including the ABVP student wing of RSS, have often claimed that those with “anti-national” sentiments have found support from affiliated bodies on the left.
The decision to install a life-size statue of Vivekananda, a highly respected Hindu monk, is imbued with symbolism.
