PM Modi to Launch Ayushman Bharat Scheme to Cover All J&K Residents | India News


NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi to launch Ayushman Bharat outline on Saturday via videoconference to extend health insurance coverage to all residents of Jammu and cashmere.
The Prime Minister’s Office said Thursday that the plan will ensure universal health coverage and focus on providing protection against financial risks and ensuring quality and affordable essential health services to all people and communities.
Minister of interior Amit shah and the deputy governor of the Union territory, Manoj Sinha, will also be present on the occasion.
The plan will provide free insurance coverage to all residents of Jammu UT and Kashmir, the PMO said, adding that it will provide financial coverage of up to Rs 5 lakh per family on a floating basis to all UT residents.
There is a provision for the operational extension of ‘Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana’ (PM-JAY) to approximately Rs 15 lakh from additional families, the PMO statement said, adding that the scheme will operate in safe mode in convergence with PM-JAY .
The benefits of the plan will be transferable throughout the country. Hospitals linked under the PM-JAY scheme will also provide services under this scheme, the PMO said.
