PM Modi remembers Janta’s curfew a year ago, pays tribute to Corona Warriors

LIVE Updates from Mann ki Baat: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addresses the nation through his monthly Mann Ki Baat radio address one day before the country celebrates the Holi festival. The ‘Mann Ki Baat’ radio address airs on the last Sunday of each month, and earlier this month the prime minister tweeted for ideas for the latest edition of the show. The speech also comes a day after Prime Minister Modi’s two-day visit to Bangladesh. He was in the neighboring country to participate in the celebrations of the 50 years of its independence.

A new passenger train connecting Dhaka and New Jalpaiguri on the Indian side was jointly inaugurated by Modi and his Bangladeshi counterpart, Sheikh Hasina, via video conference on Saturday. This is the third passenger train after Maitree Express (Dhaka-Kolkata) and Bandhan Express (Khulna-Kolkata) that runs between the two neighboring countries. India and Bangladesh want stability, love and peace rather than instability, terror and unrest in the world, Prime Minister Modi said on Saturday, stressing that the two friendly neighbors want the world to progress through its own development. Prime Minister Modi made the remarks while speaking with members of the Matua community after offering prayers at his temple in Gopalganj’s Orakandi, the birthplace of the Hindu mystical figure and the community’s spiritual guru, Harichand Thakur.

The speech also comes after the first phase of voting in the West Bengal and Assam Assembly elections. Both states are crucial for the BJP, which seeks to retain power in Assam, while in West Bengal it fights a battle against the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC).
