Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Guru Nanak Dev, the founder of Sikhism, on his 551st birthday. The country today celebrates Guru Nanak Jayanti or Gurpurab. Prime Minister Narendra Modi took to Twitter and wished the people. He shared that “Guru Nanak’s thoughts keep motivating” people every day. Political leaders and others across the country greet each other at Gurpurab. The first guru of the Sikhs was born in 1469 in Nankana Sahib, now in Pakistan.
In a tweet, Prime Minister Modi said: “I bow to Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji in his Parkash Purab. May your thoughts continue to motivate us to serve society and ensure a better planet.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit his Varanasi parliamentary constituency today. dedicate to the nation the widened Handia-Rajatalab section of National Highway 19. The 73 km section of the six-lane NH-19 is expected to reduce travel time between Prayagraj and Varanasi by one hour. In Varanasi preparations are under way for the Prime Minister.
PM Modi will also visit the Kashi Vishwanath Temple Corridor Project site, Sarnath Archaeological Site and will also attend Dev Diwali in Varanasi. The Prime Minister will light a clay lamp at Raj Ghat in Varanasi to mark the beginning of the Dev Diwali celebrations that take place every year in the month of Kartik. Eleven lakhs of earth lamps will be lit on both banks of the Ganges in Varanasi.
