Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Prime Minister of Madhya Pradesh Shivraj Singh Chouhan will participate in a virtual ‘grih pravesh’ (housewarming) performance on Saturday for people who have built houses with assistance provided by Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).
On September 8, the prime minister had transferred a cumulative amount of Rs 102 million, which was the fourth and final installment of housing finance, online to 68,000 beneficiaries, authorities said.
Chouhan had said that 17 lakhs of homes were completed out of a total of 20.30 lakhs under the rural component of PMAY, and the goal for 2019-20 was to build six lakhs of homes, of which 3.45 lakhs were completed.
Those who were unable to benefit from the scheme at this time will be covered by PMAY’s ‘Awas Plus’ scheme, Chouhan added.
During her interaction with some beneficiaries, one Sushila Vishwakarma from Betul told Chouhan that she and her husband had built their house in 49 days on their own.
Gulab Singh from Dhar and Namdeo from Gwalior, both beneficiaries, thanked the government for assistance under the scheme due to which they now have their own homes.
Additional Chief Secretary (Panchayat and Rural Development Department) Manoj Shrivastava said Prime Minister Modi would interact with three beneficiaries during Saturday’s performance.
