New Delhi:
Shortly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke on Sunday afternoon about making “toys for the world,” Congress leader Rahul Gandhi sarcastically criticized the prime minister and called on India to emerge as a “toy center”.
Lakhs of college students protesting taking the JEE and NEET exams during the Covid crisis would have preferred a “pariksha pe charcha (discussion about exams) “over a”khilona pe charcha (discussion about toys), “Gandhi said in his tweet.
“JEE-NEET hopefuls wanted the prime minister to do”pariksha pe charcha“but the prime minister did it”khilone pe charcha, “Rahul Gandhi tweeted, adding the hashtag”#Mann_Ki_Nahi_Students_Ki_Baat“.

The Prime Minister, during his monthly radio address Mann ki Baat, stated that toys were “very important for the development of children” and that India should become a world leader in their manufacture.
“There has been a rich tradition of local toys in our country. There are many talented and skilled craftsmen who are experienced in making good toys … India has the talent and ability to become a toy center by making toys for everything. the world, ”the prime minister quoted the ANI news agency as saying.
He also estimated the world market for toys to be worth Rs 7 lakh crore and said that it was “not correct” that India had a “very small” share in that market.
Gandhi’s latest dig, which has been relentless in its criticism of the government on myriad issues, comes amid pressure from students and opposition parties over the decision to take the Joint Entrance Exams (JEE) and the National Income Eligibility (NEET) in September.
On Friday, the congressional deputy said in a video posted on Twitter that the safety of NEET and JEE hopefuls could not be compromised by the “government’s failure” to control the COVID-19 outbreak.
Describing students as “the future,” Gandhi demanded to know why “more pain should be imposed on them” and urged the government not to force the student community to sit for exams.
The safety of NEET-JEE applicants must not be compromised due to government failures.

Students and stakeholders have questioned the taking of the JEE and NEET exams, to enter IIT and medicine courses, respectively, during the pandemic, who say that health and safety should take priority over academics in this moment.
India has seen a deeply worrying increase in Covid cases over the past month and now has over 35 lakh of confirmed infections, of which over 63,000 are deaths and 7.65 lakh are active cases.
NEET and JEE will be held despite these concerns; the Supreme Court dismissed a petition earlier this month to postpone them, stating that “student careers cannot be jeopardized.”
The government has published a list of guidelines to ensure the safety of students and proctors during examinations, but a group of opposition chief ministers have expressed concern that their governments will be blamed if, as expected, the cases Covid Rises After Mass Public Gatherings Like Exams
The same group, led by Bengal’s Mamata Banerjee and Acting Head of Congress Sonia Gandhi, has approached the high court seeking a review of the August 17 order allowing examinations.
The JEE (Main) is scheduled for September 1-6, while the NEET (UG) exam is scheduled for September 13.
