Dubai [UAE], Oct 3 (ANI): An unsuccessful cricketer has been contacted to help arrange the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League in the United Arab Emirates. BCCI’s Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) led by Ajit Singh is investigating the approach taken on social media.
Speaking with ANI, the head of ACU confirmed the development and said that his team is investigating the approach taken. “Yes, a player has reported an approach. We are investigating it. No further details can be given at the moment,” he said.
When asked if the approach was on social media as Singh and his team expected before the tournament, he said: “Yes, the player reported it immediately.”
Over the years, the IPL has generated eyes not only among cricket fans, but also among bookies who see the cash-rich league as an opportunity to make quick money.
Singh had previously said that bookmakers were already moving to Dubai with the IPL on, but have made no progress so far.
“There are bookmakers that have come to Dubai but have not been able to move forward. So far everything is fine and things are running smoothly. We have been working closely with not only the Emirates Cricket Board (ECB), but also the local police. and they have been of great help ”, he had told ANI.
Singh had entered the season and also made it clear that social media interactions would be closely monitored by his team.
“Look, although the number of places is less, the obstacles to physical movement due to the coronavirus pandemic also mean that the approaches, if there are any, will be made through social networks. Therefore, we are going to monitor closely the same and make sure that there is nothing that escapes the eyes of the team, “he had said. (AND I)
