NEW DELHI: One day after the Union minister disappeared Ram Vilas Paswan, President Ram Nath Kovind has granted the additional position of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution to the Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal.
“The President of India, as advised by the Prime Minister, has directed that Piyush Goyal, Cabinet Minister, be assigned the post of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, in addition to his existing portfolios,” said a statement from the president’s office.
Earlier, the Union Cabinet knew and regretted the disappearance of Paswan, and was also silent for two minutes in memory of the late leader.
The cabinet approved a state funeral for Paswan and passed the following resolution: “The cabinet expresses deep regret at the sad death of Ram Vilas Paswan, Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution of the Union. On his passing, the nation has lost an eminent leader, distinguished parliamentarian, and skilled administrator. ”
