Empowering students to become gamers at the national level, perfecting their linguistic potential, elevating children with disabilities, and educating students about cyber safety are some of the initiatives launched by teachers and school principals that have been awarded by the CBSE this year.
The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) on Wednesday honored 38 teachers and principals from its affiliated schools for their valuable contribution to improving school education, innovation and dedication. Veneketson Karthikeyan, a physical education teacher at Indian School, Muscat has turned his students into national level players of extraordinary caliber.

Dhannajoy Pan, Director of DPS Odisha, has been awarded for his philosophy of teaching based on an inclusive environment that is based on four aspects of growth: physical, mental, emotional and social.
Poonam Bhatt, Professor of Biology at Amity International School, Ghaziabad, has been awarded for “guiding her students in a series of real-world projects in which students have been able to study various concepts in a much more meaningful way.”
Amit Garg, a counselor at Sarvodaya Vidyalaya in Delhi, has received the award for his “work to uplift disabled children through teaching, enabling them to handle daily tasks to promote independence.”
Shreejith, an IT professor at Kendriya Vidyalaya in Moscow, has “started many online projects based on activities in his school like Unbox-21, virtual training and online competitions, online ethics and cyber security.”
The other honorees include Alka Sharma and Yogesh Gambhir from Punjab, Ram Kumar Sharma and Anuja Sharma from Chandigarh, Anita Mishra from Rajasthan, Puneeta Malhotra, Rashmi Malik and Arti Chopra from Gurgaon, Dimple Puri from Noida and Sapna Iyer from Gujarat.
Each laureate received a certificate of merit, a shawl and a cash award of Rs 50,000. The awards were presented by the Union’s Minister of Education, Ramesh Pokhriyal ‘Nishank’ in a virtual ceremony.
