This year, all pensioners of the Central Government can present a Life Certificate from November 1, 2020 onwards until December 31, 2020.
All Central Government pensioners must present a life certificate in November to continue with their pension. It has been observed that a large number of Central Government pensioners physically visit bank branches for this purpose.
Previously, as a measure to allow additional time dedicated to very old retirees, retirees in the age group 80 and over could present a Certificate of Life from October 1 onwards instead of November 1, all years.
However, pensioners in the age group of 80 years and over, can present a Life Certificate from October 1, 2020 onwards, until December 31, 2020.
During this extended period, the pension will continue to be paid by the Pension Disbursement Authorities (PDA) without interruption.
In addition, in the RBI notification line that enables the video-based customer identification process (V-CIP) as an alternative consent-based method to establish customer identity, PDAs can also explore such a methodology to obtain a certificate. life of the pensioner, to the extent allowed by RBI guidelines, in order to avoid rushing through branches.
The above measures are expected to avoid the rush at branches and maintain social distancing, while earning Life Certificates from seniors this year. PDAs will also ensure adequate provisions and social distancing measures at branches and prevent overcrowding.
In addition, in accordance with the 1990 RBI Pension Regulations for the presentation of the Life Certificate / Declaration of marital status, the term has been extended.
All pensioners, family pensioners and ex gratia beneficiaries must present a life certificate / declaration of marital status in the month of November of each year. In case of not receiving the certificate / declaration of life at the end of November, the monthly payment of the pension stops as of December and the payment of the pension is restarted only after receiving the certificate of life from the pensioners.
Taking into account the situation of the pandemic, it has been decided to allow pensioners, family pensioners, ex-gratia beneficiaries to send scanned copies of signed life certificates / declaration of marital status in the prescribed format by email to the respective Pension Cells from where the pension is located. being drawn. In addition, it has been decided to extend the deadline to send it until December 31, 2020. The extension of the deadline as indicated above is applicable only for this year due to the prevailing pandemic situation. The existing system for accepting life certificates / declaration of marital status via post / in person / Jeevan Pramaan remains unchanged.
