Actor Payal Ghosh officially filed a written complaint against director Anurag Kashyap on Tuesday under IPC sections 376, 354, 341, 342, Ghosh defender Nitin Satpute told Republic TV.
Ghosh’s attorney’s statement reads: “A written complaint has been filed for the crime of rape, wrongful restraint, wrongful confinement, and outrage against the modesty of women U / S 376, 354, 341, 342 of IPC and now is record the victim’s statement at the police station. “
Payal Ghosh claimed that Anurag Kashyap had imposed himself on her around 2014-15. She tagged Prime Minister Modi for action and protection amid possible ‘harm’ to her. The actress who made her Hindi debut with Rishi Kapoor-Paresh Rawal starrer Patel Ki Punjabi ShaadiHe also claimed that Kashyap claimed there were other female artists with whom he was intimate, calling them Richa Chadha, Huma Qureshi, and others.
Ghosh had accused Kashyap of sexual harassment on Saturday. Speaking to ANI, he stated: “Five years ago I met Anurag Kashyap regarding work. He called me at his home. When I went there, he took me to a separate room and tried to sexually assault me. He made me do it.”
Publishing the allegations, Kashyap had responded on Twitter denying the allegations, claiming they were ‘unfounded’. “I neither behave like that nor tolerate it at any cost,” he had said. After calling it ‘lies’ in a tweet, Anurag Kashyap released a statement from his lawyer that he is ‘hurt’ and intends to exercise his legal rights and remedies as advised. Ghosh, on the other hand, is ready to file a formal complaint with the National Commission for Women.
