In the middle of a row of buses arranged for their part, the migrants in Uttar Pradesh, Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Wednesday asked the Yogi Adityanath government to allow the buses to ply, even if that means “paste BJP flags on these buses”.

In a video message, Vadra said, ‘At 4 pm, will be 24 hours since buses were made available. If you want to use it, do it. Give us permission. If you want to use the BJP party flags and stickers on buses and then do it. If you want to say that these buses available, do it. But we’re going to the buses. Please, please, send the migrants home.”

“We’re going to have to understand our responsibilities. They (the migrant workers) are not only Indians, but India is the spinal column. The country runs in your blood and sweat. It is the responsibility of all. It is not the time for politics,” he added.

The Congress had offered the Yogi Adityanath-led BJP government in Uttar Pradesh to run 1,000 buses to take migrant workers back to the state, a proposal which had sparked a war of words between the two sides. The government accepted the proposal on Monday and asked the Congress party to share the details of the buses and the drivers, but later demanded that the hand of more than 1,000 of the proposals of the buses to officials in Lucknow, 10 in the morning. For this, the Congress accused the BJP of playing politics, saying: take empty buses to Lucknow from the state border will be of no use. The Congress also provides the list of buses for the government of the state.

However, on Tuesday, the minister of state, Sidharth Nath Singh has alleged that the buses had registration numbers of scooters, three-wheeled, and goods carriers. “In the preliminary check of the numbers, it has been found that the numbers mentioned in the list as the buses are actually scooters of three wheels and carriers of goods,” PTI quoted the minister as saying.
