Amid Delhi’s worsening air quality, parts of the national capital received rain on Sunday, which is expected to bring relief to residents struggling with severe PM2.5 pollution. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) forecast had said “light to moderate” rains would occur over the adjacent areas of Delhi-NCR.
He had stated that a new western disturbance is likely to increase wind speed and improve air quality in the region. Areas likely to receive rain include parts of New Delhi, along with Jhajjar, Gurugram, Bahadurgarh, Faridabad, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad.
According to the Air Quality Early Warning System for Delhi, the air quality index remained in the severe category on Diwali and is likely to improve significantly on November 15. In addition, he added that air quality is likely to remain in the low end of “very poor to poor category” on November 16 and in the poor category the next day.
“The prevailing surface wind is likely to come from the east / southeast direction of Delhi with speeds up to 16-30 km / h, generally cloudy sky and light rain / thunderstorms accompanied by wind gusts (speed 30- 40 km / h) towards the evening / night of 11/15/2020 ”, said the central agency in its meteorological bulletin.
