Parental Consent and Staggered Visits Between Standard Operating Procedures for Schools | India News


NEW DELHI: As part of the gradual unblocking of activities, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare issued standard operating procedures (SOPs) for the partial reopening of middle and upper secondary schools on Tuesday.
Preventive measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 are also aimed at institutions for training skills or entrepreneurship, institutions of higher education conducting doctoral courses and graduate studies.
According to the SOP for the reopening of schools, which would take effect on September 21, 2020, students in class IX and above would be allowed to visit schools on a “voluntary basis, to receive guidance from their teachers.”
Students will be allowed to visit schools subject to the written consent of their parents / guardians and visits and teacher-student interaction should be organized in a staggered manner. The SOP for higher education stated that entrepreneurial training has been allowed in national skill training institutes, industrial training institutes, short-term training centers registered with the National Competency Development Corporation or State Competency Development Missions or other government of India or state government ministries, National Institute for Entrepreneurship and Small Business Development (NIES BUD), Indian Institute of Entrepreneurship (IIE) and their training providers.
For higher education institutions, the higher education department will allow the completion of doctoral or technical and professional programs requiring laboratory / experimental work in consultation with the Ministry of the Interior. Only schools and higher education institutions will be allowed to open outside the containment zones.
Additionally, students, teachers, and employees living in containment zones are not allowed to attend school / institutions and are advised not to visit areas within the containment zones.
