Gurdaspur: Punjab police recovered about 11 grenades from near the Chakri post along the border with Pakistan on Friday. On Friday, a Pakistani drone was spotted prompting a search operation by Punjab police.
During the search operation, the personnel found a cache of 11 grenades almost 1 km inside the border with India. These 11 grenades discovered from inside a package in the fields of a village in Salach, under Gurdaspur Dorangla Police Station.
The grenades had a ‘RGS’ marking which is found on almost all Pakistani made grenades.
The police have registered a case against an unknown person at the Dorangla Police Station and have started an investigation into the matter.
Earlier, Punjab Police had arrested two members of a module who used drones to smuggle narcotics and weapons across an international network, including Pakistan-based smugglers who had links to Khalistani agents.
The defendants, identified as Lakhbir Singh aka Lakha and Bachittar Singh, were arrested by Amritsar (Rural) police via certain leads, and further investigations are expected to trace their associates, including four drug traffickers currently housed in the jail. from Amritsar.
Further investigations, led by ASP Rana and DSP Nagra, under the supervision of SSP, Dhruv Dhaiya, revealed that Lakhbir Singh was in close and frequent contact with 4 major Ajnala drug traffickers, who are currently housed in Amritsar prison. A search of the prison led to the recovery of a tactile smartphone from the possession of Lakhbir’s partner, Surjit Masih, a drug dealer.
